Re: Recommendations for a villa for 2 please!

Carnival Beach House on Klein Bay is right on the water and has beautiful grounds and a great pool. We have stayed on Klein Bay several times and it's a gorgeous bay and quick drive to Cruz Bay.

Re: Hurricane Maria now a Cat. 5

from where it is now, if it stays on the WNW course thru the evening hours, it would be set up to pass around 60 miles south of St John over night. The hurricane force winds currently extend about 40 miles out in all directions from the center (80-85 mile swath) so with some luck, St John will be in...

Re: Verizon plan on island

here is a good recent topic on that from the Verizon site: https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/925496 I'd still use the Verizon trip planner link in the lower post of that thread to be safe. Also remember that on many parts of the island, near the N. Shore especially, there is a chance that...

Re: new property tax proposal

if you are looking for more usable numbers, assuming the owners pass the exact cost of the proposed increase along to the renters, here is a good example. For a 1.0 million dollar property, the old tax would be $3,770 per year or $72.50 per week (broken down by the most common rental term). The new ...

Re: new ferries

I just noticed yesterday and today that the new ferries seem to either be in operation again or in for repairs as they are no longer showing up in the Spice cam. Does anyone know if they are both back in use now?

Re: Golf carts?

it may be for the increased cruise ship groups they are allowing at Honeymoon? We were there in April and had a nice spot with some room to spare in the middle of Honeymoon and around 11:00am they arrived and it looked like a Florida beach for about 3 hours with lounge chairs lined up all along the ...

Re: Live from the rock

I like the limited parking, hopefully it stays that way. We were there 2 months ago and it seems like more boats were mooring and dropping in so the beach was more full than usual.

Re: Four bedroom villa

we just stayed in April at Villa South Palm (as suggested above by Pia), very nice 4 equal bedroom home at around $6,000 plus tax per week. for just a bit more per couple, Leeward in Klein Bay is one of the best, four equal bedrooms we could find in it's price range and we are staying there in Augus...

Re: Cruz Bay Dining map - is LIVE!!

correction on the Viva Cantina update, they have sold to Greengo's Mexican restaurant. Since the Mongoose Junction location is an existing restaurant, I would guess they will not take long to be up and running under the new name

Re: After 8 long years....Drumbiker's coming "Home"

don't sweat the weather forecast, we just got back from a week there in April. On our first day there, the forecast had 5 of 7 days with 50%-70% chance of rain and estimated over an 1" of rain for the week. We ended up seeing rain for 1 hour the first day there and only ended up getting .06 hun...

Re: Cruz Bay Dining map - is LIVE!!

my 2 cents worth to the updates as we just got back a week ago: - Beach Bar has 6 to 7 new large (8 person) picnic tables that are on the beach, first come first served. - Virgin Fire is now Viva Cantina in Mongoose Junction. Food and service was great and drinks were excellent as well. - Vista Mare...

thanks for the trip report, we go in 4 weeks so glad to hear the island is looking green and still some cool nights! Can't wait to get there and see it in person, we are staying in the Great Cruz Bay area this time.

Expensive, but looks extremely nice and new is Ardisia on Great Cruz Bay. And not new but completely remodeled inside and out with a new, enormous 47' infinity pool is Leeward on Klein Bay

Re: sailing and STJ

I would definitely make a stop at Norman Island with The Caves and The Indians for excellent snorkeling and lunch at Pirate's Bight. Also Little Thatch Island (Otter Box Island) has some great coral just off the south end of Tortola.
