I think you should keep it. It melts in very good and adds something to the picture.

I have a similar issue with a red dinghy on one of my photos (posted the question on the OT-forum).

Thank you so much for the report and the pictures. It has been a pleasure following you on your trip. A week sailing in the BVI's is on my list of things I want to do. Thanks for sharing.

Re: VG first, then STJ or STJ then VG?

It is indeed a wonderful relaxed place, but just for your info, there is no pool at Guavaberry. If you want a pool, rent one of the private villas Guavaberry manages. You can still enjoy Guavaberry's facilities, like beach chairs, towels, commissary etc

Re: VG first, then STJ or STJ then VG?

Guavaberry is much better than it's website and the individual cottages are spread out among the boulders. Not at all like a campsite, if you ask me. They are situated on both sides of the small road, with better views from the upper cottages and they also have a better breeze. It's a few more minut...

Re: VG first, then STJ or STJ then VG?

Just want to add that if you are leaving Virgin Gorda a Saturday and fly out from STT, there is an 8.30 am ferrry to STT from VG so you're in Charlotte Amalie already at 10am. Try and get off the ferry early for an easy customs clearance. Then it's just 10 minutes with taxi to the airport from the f...

Re: VG first, then STJ or STJ then VG?

We have split our vacation between STJ and VG two times, with the third time doing this combo, coming up in two weeks. We always start with St John first, as it feels like VG is better suited once you have relaxed completely. That said, we love both. Going back on a Saturday from VG to STT is easy w...

Re: Guavaberry houses

The houses that are farthest up doesn't have ac. They have better breeze and great views. I think all the houses on the upper side (lefthand side) are OK when it comes to the view. They all have something good, privacy, large deck, great view. Our favorite so far is Banyan (no ac). Have been wanting...

Re: Just ridiculous!

I know many say "any day on St. John is better than ...", however, I think being there with the best things inaccessible must be draining. Don and I went to the Grand Canyon last week. I would have been devastated if our trip had been planned during this shutdown and we had to find Plan B...

Re: What's up with rental cars to non Americans?

Yes, we always have to pay the extra insurance and I'm fine with that. But this international permit is just a way to collect more money from certain visitors. That's what I have an opinion about.

Re: What's up with rental cars to non Americans?

Also, I have uncounted this requirement on several islands, especially EU ones, as I was an American. Also in several Asian countries. I don't think that's nice either. Only place this happened to us was the BVI's until 2005 and Rarotonga in the Cook islands. And both these countries charged everyo...

Re: What's up with rental cars to non Americans?

I don't think it's any problem renting a car. You just have to pay the $20-25 extra for the permit, because you don't have a US licence. Like Eric wrote, just a way to bring in money from some tourists  . I don't think a regular International drivers licence will help. My impression is that th...

Re: What's up with rental cars to non Americans?

Exactly my point. Very discriminating  and it's only valid for 30 days, so you can't even use it again, even if you visit twice a year.

How come btw, it cost $20 or $25 depending on agency? You would think it has a set price and not a flexible one.

Appreciate your replies Eric on St John.

Re: What's up with rental cars to non Americans?

Thank you so much for your explanation. I guessed it was something like that. I have got an answer from a rental agency that they sell it there. No problem. But I'm very disappointed that we have to pay an extra $25 for nothing. Maybe they don't want too many foreign visitors.
