Re: That special STJ aroma!

I live in Florida and now that we are in the rainy season, I smell that "St John smell" here. I always thought it was the Bay Rum trees I smelled on island, but we don't have Bay Rum trees here, so it must be something else. Maybe Flamboyant trees when they bloom? Anyway, it makes me miss ...

Re: Advice on Tree House Mamey Peak

I found the video I previously watched. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oeB0IHsBeA After watching it again, I realized that to access 2 of the 3 bedrooms you have to walk outside. Granted, it isn't far, but for me (with 2 young kids) it crossed the house off my list. So the house is set up as enter...

Re: Advice on Tree House Mamey Peak

I have looked into it because the price and view make it really attractive. It doesn't work for me because the master bedroom is accessed by walking outside and I have 2 young children I wouldn't be able to hear in the night. But, that may work for your travel companions. If you go to YouTube and se...

Re: Question for Florida forumites

Maybe I can help give you a ray of hope. I have found direct airfares on AA from MIA as low as $295 RT. Also, if you are up for it, Spirit has some good prices (I forget if it's from FLL or MIA). I know it's a hike from your area, but may be worth considering. Also, if you can get a sale price on So...

Re: Villa for 2 couples, close to Cruz Bay?

I would consider Grande Bay. Walking home after indulging in all Cruz Bay has to offer seems like it's pretty easy compared to other places in town. If I was planning to make it a "trip of a lifetime," Grande Bay would be high on my list of Cruz Bay accommodations.

Re: STJ with 4 year old and no swimming

Annaberg, Cinnamon Bay Loop, Peace Hill, and Hart Bay. My 4 year old has done them all and enjoyed them. We also go on a hunt for the elusive Mimosa pudica plant (AKA sensitive plant) that moves when you touch it. We found it on the Reef Bay Hike and also at the Catherinberg Ruins. The museum at Lam...

Re: bathrooms in a rental villa

Lindy summed it up well. But from a parental standpoint, I like to stay nearby when my young kids are showering and help them dry off after. So, enough room for both of us to fit to dry off (even if one is standing in the shower when it's off). Small is fine, as long as the layout is good. No need f...

Re: Looking for last-minute villa 4/5 - 4/12

Here's 2 I found, but without knowing your budget I'm just guessing. http://www.vrbo.com/247980 http://www.vrbo.com/235315 I have to ask, do you need 2 bedrooms? If it's possible your son can stay in your room, it may open up more options. Also, is it really Coral Bay or bust? Would any other locati...

Re: Ticker check

I didn't make a ticker this time (part of me is still in disbelief that we are going).

17 days to go, and after writing that I'm freaking out that I'm not packing yet. At least I'm starting to gather and purchase toiletries and snacks for the trip.

Does Cost U Less sell sunscreen?

I checked out the website and there is a tab for sunscreen, but it doesn't show any when I click the tab (only lotion). Now of course, I'm not taking this as fact. But I'm planning to do carry on only, and I don't want to skimp on sunscreen in 3 oz bottles. We are planning on going to Cost U Less an...

I love posts like this one where you have to guess the spot, and hearing about the history. Thanks for sharing.

Can you post any others?

Re: Cimmaron Rentals

I had the opportunity to meet with the people of Cimmaron a few years back. They were professional and nice and took great pride in their work. I wouldn't hesitate to use them. But the villa, I haven't heard of and haven't seen any reviews.

Re: Winter Travel Quandry

We learned the hard way not to wait for the bathroom at STT- it is sooo crowded with women changing clothes. If you can manage it, change in the bathroom on the airplane or strip as many layers off as you can in the airport before you board the plane. Have a great time and enjoy your respite from th...
