If you're looking for a day off of STJ consider a day charter to check out neighboring islands. There's also Ginger, Cooper, Salt, Peter and Norman islands (the Cooper Island beach club is a nice little visit). The Baths at Virgin Gorda are something you should do at least once. So those are otheer ...

For a first time visit, I find it's most cost effective to take the ferry and just do a taxi. The only time I rent a car is when we stay overnight on Jost and then it makes the most sense. You'll get about 5 solid hours on Jost and if you stick to the main areas like Foxy's or Soggy Dollar you'll ge...

@Armchair-- I am struggling with the same thing... after many years of staying in the Choc hole area, we decided to switch to the coral bay side to get away from the hustle and bustle of town. Over the past 6 years this worked well as Coral bay began to add more amenities, grocery stores, restaurant...

Mini Gromit has arrived!

First of all, apologies for the delay in posting but life has been incredibly hectic. It all started about two months ago when I began feeling, well... not so well. A trip to the Drs office turned into a trip to the hospital to be monitored closely for preeclampsia for five days. That was followed b...

After some additional discussion with Mr. Gromit on the way home from work Monday, he insists that the greener coconuts in their husks (with the most coconut milk/water) are actually a lot easier to get into than the brown ones. However, he also insists that a machete or similarly large kinife will ...

Flip I was going to say the same thing... but you know Mr. Gromit I couldn't have stopped him if I tried. And of course if i gave him a hard time about it you know there would have been SOME CIRCUMSTANCE on a trip that would require a machete to save my life or something and if I had given him a har...

First off, mean people suck balls. That's awful. Second, while we have NEVER had anything taken over our many trips over the years, it doesn't mean that we aren't as diligent about our valuables and "stuff" on vacay as we are at home. Hubby in vested in a pacsafe years ago and whenever we ...

Oh good, now I won't have to bear the brunt of the ribbing alone on our packing list!

Seriously, machetes are COOL! 8) Unless you use them for bad things then not so cool

But for coconuts, cool. Definitely cool. 8)

I can honestly tell you that you will need something more than a screwdriver based on our experiments. Hubby tried everything (like said: GEEK!) Now perhaps there is some "coconut whisperer" out there who's lore speaks of a sweet spot but I am unaware of it. Hubby used a variety of pocket ...
