Re: Post-Irma news

Easy now - no judging. Especially in these moments. We have no idea what people were not able to move or protect their boat....

Re: St. John like destination

We have started to look beyond STJ as well, the crowds and the $$$. We have enjoyed Vieques 2 or three times - wide open beaches. This year we experienced Tulum and loved it so much we have booked two return trips - in August and January. Found that portion of Mexico very safe - drove two hours into...

Re: Polar Bear Cooler

Just a note since this thread popped up. We have used PB coolers for each trip - actually put the entire cooler packed in freezer the night before. Add cheese in the AM and still ice cold 12 hours later. Note on door to not forget it at 4 AM! Just last week I contacted PB cooler about one of our thr...

Re: Bringing Wine?

As noted by some it is very easy using the cases that they ship wine in from wineries. We always have those around and pack a case of our favorites from our stock. Last trip we went with a couple who belong to the same winery in CA and we brought a case of their wine, fun. Think it only makes sense ...

Re: Aria, Bayview - Ajax Peak??

We also love that area and have stayed at Aria many years ago and Bayview three or four times. We have also toured Apito. Aria when we stayed there was fine, the downsides were that the furniture was uncomfortable, there was a spiral staircase to the pool and the jungle was overgrown, very limiting ...

Re: Rachel's info

her # is 340-771-2986

Also the porter that she prefers to connect you with is Daphne at 340-473-6563

We had Amalie car rental this past trip (so did not need Rachael) but got Daphne's number from Rachel so as to be helped at the airport..

Re: Help - Kia Ora versus Aria

We stayed at Aria several years ago, and have not returned due to some quirks that did not work for us. It IS a great location and we have stayed almost every year on Ajax Peak road. The driveway is paved and you have the additional security of a electric gate that provides access to the 3-4? housed...

We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday Jazz Brunch when we were there earlier this year. Great food, view and service, and music.

Re: Professional Photos on island

We used Bob Schlesinger at Tropical Focus and were very happy with the results.

At the time in March 2011 the cost was $250 for over an hour of his time of time and a good number (40) of retouched photos on a disc that we could then get printed anywhere.

We used to rent from Penn's, partially due to their parking lot but now we rent on STT.

This last trip instead of using Slim's parking we parked by tennis courts/car barge in the free lot. I timed the walk from there to Woody's - about 4 minutes - worth the $10 saved we thought.

We have two freezers and the necessary room so we packed the polar bear the night before and put the entire PB in the freezer overnight.

Just need the room of course and a post it note to remember it in the AM.

We have eaten at Zozo's five trips in a row - it's our "must go to" spot each trip. The first times we were downstairs in the dining room, this last time upstairs at the bar. We loved the main dining area - the view is just not quite as good but beautiful. The view and slightly more casual...
