Oh Ed, so sorry to hear about your friend and so glad that you'll be returning to your happy place. It's just the what I would want to do.

Re: St. John 2018 Still So Good!

No gobucs. I would have loved to even him- my hero that he is. I did see the you tube of him singing at Mongoose. What a treat for the locals and lucky tourists who were in the right place at the right time. The closest I have gotten to Kenny is the best seats we can get at Foxboro each August. Woul...

Re: Post-Irma Rebuilds Complete at Coconuts and Plumeria Vil

Will do Ed! I actually prefer off season so I am sure that we will return to Gallows someday. It's just that next year our only window when we can all make it is the highest of high season- over New Years. Sorry to hear about your pup. That's really hard- been there sadly.

Re: Post-Irma Rebuilds Complete at Coconuts and Plumeria Vil

Hi Ed, I knew it was just a matter of time and now the the Caneel regulars need somewhere to go they will likely get their price. So the high season rate of $915 for an ocean upper with 2 extra people and room taxes puts it well over $1000 a night. Harbor uppers are a little less but the only time w...

Re: Post-Irma Rebuilds Complete at Coconuts and Plumeria Vil

Thank you for the link! Our hearts have always been at Gallows but as I feared they have recently jacked their already high prices. It may be time to switch it up to a villa.

Re: St. John 2018 Still So Good!

Hey MB! Umm yes, we did leave luggage in the hallway and only discovered it upon arrival at the airport- too late to do anything about it. And then Quinn left his guitar on the plane in PR and our camera bag also slipped out of a beach bag and was left on the plane in PR. That was a stressful beginn...

Re: St. John 2018 Still So Good!

Thanks Suzi! I live vicariously through people's trip reports all year long too.

Sherban, I recall you told me a few years ago that you lived here. It's still beautiful and they built a big swanky hotel on the Fort. It's been a big success.

My pleasure Sherban! I do it for selfish reasons too. I read them through the long winters and remember the details. It helps!

Re: St. John 2018 Still So Good!

Oh, the Walk of Woe and re-entry. Can't complain though. We had enough time this time to decompress, really spend some quality time with the boys and support our happy place. Quick synopsis of final 2 days: We did take the Eco-tours dinghy to Honeymoon on Wednesday. They pick you up in front of High...

Re: St. John 2018 Still So Good!

We never did get to Honeymoon Monday because we got a late start and decided to wait. It was Gibney instead and we met a nice group from (North) Dakota?- it was her 3rd trip here since the storms and she said the progress, as we've have heard, has been astonishing and if it had not been for all of t...

Re: St. John 2018 Still So Good!

Theresa-Rae, thanks so much for the heads up on the ACC! We were able to get in touch with Ryan and are escorting 6 kitties back to Boston on Friday. Maybe that will help take the sting out of leaving! PS- I never received a pm from you unless I am looking in the wrong place? And thanks folks for th...

Re: St. John 2018 Still So Good!

May 28 Just noodled around yesterday- drove out to Reef Bay- that view is so dramatic. That part of the island is very appealing to me- then again every inch of the island is very appealing to me. I even love the little cemetery near Gallows. Pete attended a touching ceremony there this morning for ...

Re: St. John 2018 Still So Good!

Last night we walked down to Lime Inn and town was hopping. The Terrace looked almost full, Drink had a crowd, Banana Deck was bustling. The New Chops looked super quiet though. Not sure they were open but we've seen his truck there every day and they appear to be working hard getting up and running...

Re: St. John 2018 Still So Good!

May 25 Well, I was just informed that my reporting contains a glaring error. The take-out pizza and Alfredo we had the other night did not come from Cafe Roma—it was Da Livio. Cafe Roma was closed but Luke was told they are just closed for the week. No confirmation on that, so hopefully we'll be abl...

Re: St. John 2018 Still So Good!

Picked up lunch again- this time at North Shore Deli. Like Sam and Jacks, they also do a great job and both carry 54B's favorite chips. The boys got sandwiches- Italian and chicken salad and me a Ceasar salad. We arrived at Trunk just a little past noon and there were about 15 cars in the lot and a ...
