Hey buddy, just got off the phone with you, and now am island dreaming. Thank you for calling me while on your vacation, it means a lot. I haven't been on the forum much at all lately, it's very tough when I know I can't get down there. But I just had to read your reports. It was great to hear the j...

Inspections???

Well, after reading the very interesting "Over/Under" thread, I got to wondering about a few of the comments. Many folks have mentioned the less than desirable conditions of Skinny's restrooms (Not that you get any rest there  ). Being that this is a US island. Isn't there any type of...

I find it quite hard to complain about much on STJ. If I had to pick one thing that most seem to love and I didn't was Uncle Joes BBQ. I thought it tasted okay, but the ribs were average at best. I love BBQ, and was so excited to have this due to the rave reviews....only to be let down.

Scott, Is it possible that through this forum someone could use the villa you have a deposit on & pay you that deposit??? It is a thought. I had to pay either 10 or 15% of total rental cost to cancel which is around $400. Destination St John said they would refund me if they are able to rent th...

I vote for Conrad Sutton's. His price was a tad lower than the rest After checking with just about every rental company down there, they all seem to be the exact same rate for Jeep Wranglers per week. Am I missing something? I used St John car rental with no problems. How is Conrad's intown parking...

Thank you all for the kind words. This forum rocks for sure! I will do what any other forum member would do, keep reading trip reports, and keep the dream alive until my next visit. 8) California Girl, no insurance, so we will bite the bullet on this one. Good luck with things. Things are slow, demand is down everywhere. There's a lot of saving going on out there. Federal contracting is starting to look good again. Cheers, RickG Thanks....now if we can simply stop lining the pockets of the top brass with our tax money(bailouts), maybe, just maybe, t...

Close...but yet so far....Damned Economy!!

Well, I was about 135 days away from paradise, everything booked from flights, to villa, jeep rental, to hotels in St Thomas, hotels in Boston....Unfortunately all will be cancelled today due to loss of income in this terrifying economy. :( I hate to think of the losses of deposit money this will co...

Wear a sweatshirt & shorts w/ sneakers. Get a ride to the airport....run like hell for the door!! Even checking bags I've done this routine when traveling to the islands. I refuse to pack or bring long pants to the caribbean, so a couple painfully cold dashes from car to airport door isn't...

I'm very excited for this trip as it's is my first vacation to the islands doing carry-on only....Just trying to keep things simple. 1. I refuse to bring long pants to the Caribbean. Yes, I've suffered a few times traveling from Boston upon return  2. Food. It's vacation, and I'm sure I can sim...

Isn't March a little late for the northern swells? I always thought they were more Dec/Jan time frame. I'd be a little bit bummed to pay high season prices for accomodations, and experience that on the north shore!! Typically, can someone tell me when the north shore beaches are (usually) at their c...
