USVI-On-Line: St. Croix Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews:

Hotel on the Cay 07/18/2006
Reviewers Rating: Great
We stayed in room HM5, the ones farthest up on top of the terrace and meeting rooms. We had a corner room, which meant we had a sunrise in the morning and a sunset in the evening. We faced away from the Christiansted Harbor, looking out toward Buck Island (could not see it from our room though).

HM5 (all the rooms for that matter) is basically a one room with bathroom and a small area for hanging up your clothes. There was a small counter next to the bed that housed a coffee pot, toaster, microwave and a small (half) fridge. The main difference is some have two queens and some have one. We opted for the one bed in the room, because we had more room for our stuff and to move around.

The Hotel is rather dated, but a great value for the money. If anything could be changed to make it a better place, it would have to be the addition of a sink in the “kitchenette” area. Having only one sink (in the bathroom ante room) got kind of crowded.

The staff was very friendly and very accommodating in every way. They solved our concerns and were there when we needed them. There is a beach (the only hotel in Christiansted advertised to have one) but if you want shade to sit under, you have to rent it and the same goes for the pool. There are two cabana type tents set up, and you have to rent them to use them. I saw several people using them, and I doubt they rented. It was off season, and there were never more than 3 or 4 people in the pool at any given time.

We had maid service every day (time share owners don’t get that, they only have the service once a week), clean towels, beach towels, and fresh linen. For the money ($100.00 a day) it is a great value. Would we go back? Yes and no. Probably not, but only because we like to have a villa with a fully functional kitchen and we like to be right on the beach. But if I had to choose between HOTC and another hotel in town, I would choose HOTC hands down!
