USVI-On-Line: St. Croix Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
Hibiscus Beach Resort 3/16/00
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
If you are looking for an extremely quiet spot right on the beach, I do not mean hundreds of feet off the beach, but built on the beach, this is the place for you. Try to stay in the Hibiscus building, as it is the closest and has the best view of the ocean, although they all have great views. We preferred the top floor beachfront as you seem to have a bit more privacy. The rooms are very clean, come with air, tv, shower, coffee maker, hairdryer, mini-bar and security box in your bar. The staff was not overtly friendly, but were extremely competent and willing to help once asked. This is not a "PARTY" type of place, but rather a more adult, quiet and peaceful resort. They have a small, freshwater pool, beach lounge chairs, and beach towels for guests, as well as free snorkeling equipment to use. We only ate there once, as they had a Wednesday night all you can eat BBQ, which was very good. Happy hour is from 5-7 every night except Sundays. You will need a rental car if you stay here, only because it is in a very remote section of the island. We tried the bus system, but it was not to reliable, and Christensted is 3 miles from this hotel, Fredericksted, 8. If you are looking for people to make a fuss over you, this is not the place to stay. What you do have is a lot of privacy, and very few questions. The hotel is located in an average neighborhood, so nightly walking is not too recommended. If we were to stay at St. Croix again, we would stay here as the hotel views were extremely gorgeous and the place was very well keep and clean.
